Hi everyone, just a quick note to let you know that last week I was interviewed by Jamillah Knowles of BBC 5 Radio for her Outriders “Going Long” show. We chatted about streaming video online and in particular, the rise of long-form video. You can catch the show online at the BBC Podcast page or the link above.

From audio to video, online streaming and faster downloads have made long form video a popular choice online. In some ways it may be replacing the trip to a physical shop in order to borrow a film. When is the last time you went to your local video and DVD store? Or do you now subscribe to movies online? Christophor Rick is the Associate Editor at ReelSEO, an online news and information resource. We chatted about watching video online.

KMFDM, a band I have listened to for around 20 years and obviously a personal favorite, have shut down their Internet presence in protest of the harassment of Wikileaks and founder Julian Assange.
Here’s a message from the band:

THE INTERNET HAS BEEN SHUT DOWN
In protest against the harrassment of WikiLeaks and the persecution of Julian Assange KMFDM has briefly shut down activity on KMFDM DOTKOM, KMFDM Official Twitter, the KMFDM Official Facebook Page and the KMFDM Official Myspace Page
As a demonstration of solidarity and support KMFDM offers a stream of a brand new track, “Rebels In Control (DoS Mix)”, dedicated to WikiLeaks and J. Assange.
Rebels in Control is brilliant. It’s classic KMFDM and represents everything I love about that band.
Keep fighting the good fight!

One where the people are for the people and not victims to corporate greed that manifests itself in their control over the government. Doesn’t that sound like a nice place to live? Well then, sign their petition to take a step toward that.
Their petition titled Wikileaks: Stop the crackdown reads: Read more…
