KMFDM Shuts Down Sites in Protest of WikiLeaks Harassment
KMFDM, a band I have listened to for around 20 years and obviously a personal favorite, have shut down their Internet presence in protest of the harassment of Wikileaks and founder Julian Assange.
Here’s a message from the band:
THE INTERNET HAS BEEN SHUT DOWN
In protest against the harrassment of WikiLeaks and the persecution of Julian Assange KMFDM has briefly shut down activity on KMFDM DOTKOM, KMFDM Official Twitter, the KMFDM Official Facebook Page and the KMFDM Official Myspace Page
As a demonstration of solidarity and support KMFDM offers a stream of a brand new track, “Rebels In Control (DoS Mix)”, dedicated to WikiLeaks and J. Assange.
Rebels in Control is brilliant. It’s classic KMFDM and represents everything I love about that band.
Keep fighting the good fight!

On a search through google, clicking on the main link “www.kmfdm.net” brought me to the song page mentioned, but clicking any of the sublinks, such as “News”, “Tour”, ect brought me to the KMFDM.net “News”, “Tour”, ect sections. Clicking home brought me back to the song.
Just saying.
I think it’s a great thing KMFDM is protesting for this cause. I’ve heard people say that WikiLeaks is treason, but I would totally disagree.
The store and some other links are available which almost caused me to do Christmas shopping just for myself
But everything was completely shut down earlier which is very cool.
WikiLeaks is the new media journalism. The lead time between researching a story and publishing is disappearing, which means that information spreads more rapidly. That’s the only difference between WikiLeaks and traditional newspapers.
Well, that and WikiLeaks has no corporate interests or hidden agenda unlike standard media which has political connections, shareholders, etc. That’s why it’s often biased or “spun” news meaning it’s not always 100% what it should be.
Wiki Leaks chose to do something that was perhps somewhat informative and of an interest to the public but did so in a inappropriate manner with no regard to the lives of innocent individuals that merely performed duties of their job. Listing information that puts lives in risk is quite irresponsible. It is also repulsive to think that Wiki Leaks believes that no other countries have acted in the same manner as the US if not worse in the accusations brought forth. Seriously, if you’re going to hack and post then hack and post from all Governments and leak all secrets at once. This nation certainly didn’t become what it is by eating cookies and drinking milk.
