I know I haven't written much here lately but it doesn't mean I haven't been writing. In the new notebook I have over 75 pages done and the story is progressing quite well. I get the sense this will be my best story ever. It contains multiple levels of conflict and meaning. There might even be allegory and parable like qualities to the story.

Early on in the story idea phase (which lasted all of 20 minute I think), I had an idea to structure the book sort of like Dante's Inferno, but in reverse. I had some crazy ideas about the world in which Myranda lives and the story takes place and that got me to start thinking about a lot of parallels and themes running through the book and the story.

You know the old adage that in order to be successful you need the right location? Well ok, not sure if it's the exact wording but you get the general idea.

This time round it's actually a two-fold thing. Both in the writing and outside of it.

I've got this knack of being able to write anywhere, literally. I think I already mentioned that I write in the toilet sometimes.

When I write and a character introduces themself to me I only get the briefest of outlines and glimpses into their character and personality. Over time I discover more and more about them as they show me just who they are. Their backgrounds, beliefs and motivations come into view as I go.
